Leading the league in new best friends.
Safe at Home Rescue's main goal is to save puppy mill dogs who can no longer be bred for profit or sold. We rescue and rehabilitate in Spring Training to get them ready to be Hall of Fame pets! Finding their forever homes is not easy and consists of patience, love, and understanding. The end result is rewarding once the dogs learn to trust for the first time in their lives. The love of a rescue dog is unmatched. Check out our starting line up and draft your new best friend today by filling out an application below!
Many of the dogs we rescue from the mills need extensive medical care and rehab. Safe at Home provides any and all care needed to get these dogs ready for their forever homes. Any donations are greatly appreciated and go directly to the care of the animals.
Adopting is one of the best things you can do to stop puppymills.
A puppymill is a breeding factory that can hold up to 750 adult dogs. These dogs live in miserable conditions producing puppies to sell at pet stores. They lie in their own feces and urine. They receive no medical care or love. They freeze in the winter and overheat in the summer. When done producing puppies they are then shot, drowned, burned or starved to death. Our rescue saves dogs from this miserable fate.
After we pull the dogs from the mills, they go immediately to a veterinarian for a preliminary health check, any emergency health issues are handled, and they receive their vaccinations. At that point, they are transferred to a foster home to begin to learn what life as a pet is all about. Depending on their condition and needs, they will then be spayed/neutered, fully vetted, and any medical issues addressed. Our foster homes evaluate them to determine the best type of home for them and the process of happily ever after begins! Our current available adoptees are below. If you are interested in adopting with us, but you don’t see a dog that’s a good fit for you, please fill out an application to become an approved adopter so when your perfect friend becomes available, you’ll be ready!
Due to the traumatic nature of the lives these dogs have led, they are a lifetime flight risk. For that reason, we require a fully secure fence appropriate for the dog being placed.
